We will be offering complimentary makeup touchups, skin care analysis, polish changes and haircut and color consultations. Ticket Prices $20 before December 1st. $25 thereafter. All proceeds go to The Relief Nursery. Tickets are on sale at Chikara Salon & Spa.

And here is the unveiling of my Jewelry Art Designs for donation:
#1 - "China Seas"

Reminiscent of the Asian Styling that has become very popular in today's culture, this piece has been created from Copper, hand forged (cold) with blue and white Porcelain Beads with red and turquoise accents. The length is 17.5" and comes with a 2" extender. All findings, including clasp and rings and charms have been made by hand by me.
Value: $85.00

#2 - "Duas Amazonas" (Two Amazons)
Direct from the Amazon, 2 different forms of Amazonite, green and pale blue come together in a beautiful hand made (cold forged) necklace. This necklace has been completely made by hand, including the chain! All pieces were hammered, twirled, lashed together (by copper), and then adorned with the beautiful two versions of Amazonite including the gorgeous hand carved flower pendant stone. Because the stones are from Brazil, it is only fitting to use Portugese spelling of the piece's name: Duas Amazonas.
Length: 18.5"
Value: $180.00

An Invitation cometh:

Sarahbushka has received an invitation to join with other Artists in an Exhibition coming next year.

ArtFirst! is an international, juried exhibition and sale of original art and fine crafts by artists with physical and mental disabilities, presented by the Auxiliary of the University Medical Center at Princeton. ArtFirst!, through its annual 6 week exhibition in the public spaces of UMCP, seeks to raise public awareness of the unlimited creative talent of artists with disabilities; provide a venue for these artists to display and sell their work; and enhance the experience of UMCP patients, visitors, and staff with the inspirational work of ArtFirst! artists.

~We have not decided whether we will be submitting necklaces this year or not. Sarahbushka has been very busy with a new skill she has been patiently learning since October, and that is sewing. Sarahbushka joined a sewing club at her day job (her program); and came home with a tote bag on the first day. She made it by herself! To date, she has made: tote bag, 2 pillows, a native american doll w/shawl wrap and a little baby in papoose, a pillow case, and a pair of lounging boxer style shorts!~

Here we go again...

It's Hair Show time once again.
This year, models are from one of our local business chains, a well known and also well established company, growing monthly, one which we all need sooner or later...usually sooner; and it has some of the nicest, best looking and most congenial employees of all time, and that is {{{Eugene's own DUTCH BROs COFFEE barristas WoooHooo!!}}}
This year we are going to focus on Holiday looks, and our show will happen in early December. Every year our Chikara Hair Show gets better and better. Tickets are $25.00 (I believe, but don't quote me yet), things are just starting to come together now, and Model Calls are in the works, as I type this post.
For my part, since I am unavailable to participate with the other stylists due of my quirky family obligations, like last year, once again I will be furnishing some raffle items.
Two creations of mine will be raffled off in addition to various other raffle drawings. I have yet to name the 2 necklaces, but the names will come to me naturally, as I move along.
And of course, as always, proceeds from our Hair Show will go to our local Relief nursery for underprivileged children. Both necklaces are hand made of copper, cold forged into the shapings I have presketched.

Image #3 The Bends

Image #4 The Trial Run To Glory

Coming up, in the next post, watch for images of the finished necklace, hopefully it will be named by then.
At that time I plan to unveil the second necklace too.

Also I haven't forgotten that I have planned to create my "HowTo" or for lack of a better term, my first Tutorial on Shooting Stars. Regarding my Shooting Stars "How To:"
Recently I found myself within a new Etsy Team, named Createability, for those alter-abled Etsians members, such as our family, where we giggle, because each of us comes with our own Disabled Parking Permit. So this is a perfect fit for us. And one of the things that we are going to do as a team is to Show and Tell (I think) our own Tutorials.
When my turn comes, I plan to "Show and Tell" my Shooting Stars. Luckily all the images are ready to go, and the words are all I still need to add, as I mentioned in a past post. So that's good.

Watch for things to come by this blog and connected blogs, because we are all in this together are we not?

I love Fall ~ My favorite season of the year

My Favorite Spider Picture
Nothing like a clean web to start the day.
Happy Spiders!
To the Rose Garden we shall now go........
The images below should be viewed successively.

First, this is how the flower appears from above.

Ahhh, the white clouds from heaven, with ambrosia juices for all who venture inward. one moves to the left side, the view starts to open up from a different angle.
Twinkles toes just coming into view on the 2nd row of petals.
Moving a little further along the left ward angle of view.
By now, I know she sees me....
and finally:
The posting below is the one that came out the best, and was published in our local U-News television channel.

New Spider Pic.

The last sweet drink you'll ever get...
Need I say more?

Artists and Creativity, how it can work together and still make a living

♦You see I am completely and sometimes painfully aware that a good business person in any creative field, including music, that wants to make a good living at; must always be willing to put their 'special' creative piece or pieces out for free or charity or aid/donation; leaving the remaining 80-90% of their creative work being that which others want to purchase, have, or even dance to. No artist makes a living by having their pieces in museums, though they may become famous or even notorious. Until they are completely famous, their income comes from things others pay money for. That may include paper stock (cards, pads, memos, prints) of original works rather than the original work itself, which was probably the main reason for its creation in the first place.
Having typed that, please know that since I am a Master Stylist in a hair salon, but because of my home lifestyle with Sarahbushka and my family, I am unable to join in the fun with our performance at our Annual Hair Show that we showcase every Fall to the public. I have not been able to do this for the second year now, which really hurts, because this is, in particular, a great avenue of creative expression 'ON' the human body, and being worn with movement engaged.

I have enjoyed every single year (6th, this year) because our proverbial creative doors are thrown wide open for this event. All proceeds are donated to our local Relief Nursery for underpriviledged kids and such. We usually have a theme and other than that, we are free to 'be.' And clients love that! long as they can come in see it, not necessarily wear it. It has become a rather popular event here in this town of 120K.

These images are from 2006 our Midsummer Night's Dream.
One of the things I can do for my part is to donate my jewelry for the raffles. Last year I donated 2 pieces and colleagues told me that the jars that were below my jewelry had far more tickets than any other jars, except for the Biggie gift raffle. So that is good.
Watch for the pieces to come filtering through this blog.
~And I am still preparing the "How-To ~ 'Seeing Stars'" All images are complete, but I still need to input the words.

Oh Boy, look what I found!

Spider News
I found this sheet web in the early morning, still covered in dew from the night before.

It looks really beautiful as it is suspended across the deutzia, less than 9" from the ground.

I've had to run in and get my camera to catch these shots before the scene changes too much.
This was shot looking upward from below.

Now this is what I call a "Glory Hole!"
I am sure that almost everyone would agree with me that anything venturing down a hole like this one is going to end up getting burned, one way or another. Why, I wouldn't even stick my finger in it. Not even if I had been drinking tequila. There is a certain knowledge when it comes to anything that carries its knees over its head, in that it causes an inate fear in human beings. Luckily most humans have never seen a spider's face or eyes.
That's it for the Spider News of Oct. 10, 2008.

Watch for my first Wires 'n Pliers "How To" feature to come this way very soon.

Autumn Splendor~Fall's Hallow, Aranea

+ one accoutrement:

A Spider's Lair~ Aranea, Spider of the World

The Fall Challenge Starts!

Today is the 30th, the day of debuts. All of our entries will be unveiled tonight when the poll is finally created so that the voting can commence!
Please go and vote for your favorite entry at our eJAG blog:
I have seen one other entry, a beautiful set of earrings and a necklace of sparklies on a golden aspen leaf! Simply gorgeous! It's going to be a tough one, I can already tell. Just one hour to go. I will be posting new images at MySpace, on my Rota-Tor (ok, my slide show) when I finish here. It will take a while to cycle in to my mix at Myspace, so I figure that about the time for the images to appear it will be close to debut time. So that's good. Let's review of my progress so far, oh, and there's a new hint pic:

that's it for now...It's off to MySpace.

Tues Sept 30th is just around the corner!

The 30th is almost here, my entry is complete (as is my listing). My hint picture is up and because I have never seen another like my entry utilizing my style used, I am also offering up for immediate purchase, more of my entry in a 'less conspicuous' form and with a much more affordable price point. Call them Seasonal Accoutrements or call them accessories, or call them unique, any name is fine with me, and know that the only reason I show this peek-pic (above) is because I realize that no one actually reads (or views) my blog, so I am safe in this wide world of webs. :o) And yet still, my surprise is only get a small glimpse, because as we all know, where there is smoke, there is usually fire......
So visit my shop on Tues, and then ple-e-e-e-e-ase take a finger tip trip to our eJAG forum (or blog) to vote for your most unqiue and creative andof course, favorite entry...mine, right?

►●►● eJag's first Fall Challenge: "Autumn Splendor" is about to unfold, on Tuesday September 30th, and my entry Fall's Hallow ~ Aranea will finally be unveiled!
