I was going to wait to post this until early November, but it turns out that today may be a better choice considering.....
Whew, the shut-down is over and we can get back to business, and I finally fell asleep after working until 11:30 pm, only to wake up the next morning to hear our President say this:
"...now that the government has reopened and this threat to our economy is removed, all of us need to stop focusing on the lobbyists, and the bloggers, and the talking heads on radio and the professional activists who profit from conflict, and focus on what the majority of Americans sent us here to do..."
Excuse me, but did I hear that correctly? Our President is instructing Americans to stop focusing on the Bloggers? That must make all the internet blogging platforms extremely happy. ~ What about all the people that pay for all the Ads that run on blogs? Businesses invests their advertising funds in blog advertising at sites like ...Google (Blogger), and Wordpress just to name a couple of the largest, but there are millions upon millions of blogs out here, and even more blogs on personal and business websites, too.
Did our President just indicate that that we, as bloggers, are also activists? That we're profiting from conflict?
Well, I am not sure who he is referring to, but I can tell you that just about every blogger I know, is a tiny dot in the matrix of blogging networks. The bloggers I know are just like me, people who communicate with others, whether they be garden folk, photographers, writers, mini crafters, soapers or other like minded individuals.
A lot of us are just trying to sell our items for a couple of bucks, for food and gas and if we're lucky a buck or two to put away for taxes (yes, those things too). We are merely little people out here, just dots in the matrix. But there are millions upon millions of dots out here, and when we hear the above statement made by the P.I.C. instructing the masses (via the media) to "stop focusing" on one of our main portals for product advertising, it hurts.
Myself, and just about everyone I have any virtual contact with, have for the most part handled all of this Shut-Down Stuff as 'business as usual.' We've been busy working, trying to earn a living in this economy that was just appearing to revive a little bit before all of this happened. Busily working the whole time has left little reserve time to sit and mull over conflicts. We just keep plugging along.
There is no "9 to 5" or work week for us. We're 24/7. That means every day, every hour, unless we have reason to change it, like stopping to answer the door for a pizza delivery, or a quick run to Home Depot for window screen replacements, so the cats don't jump out.
Hearing what was said could actually leave some bloggers feeling kind of like being snowed in, with impassable roads, and then finding out that your roommate just drank your last beer.... and its all your fault, because you left it in the fridge. jmo.
As bloggers, have we just been dissed, or are those just very prophetic words? I don't know, but words like that only fuel my motivation to go shopping for more tools, so I can work harder and blog even more!
So, in light of all of this, I am going to attempt to profit on this conflict by saying:
Happy Holiday Season!
